The Dirty Secret About Ukraine the Media Won’t Tell You About

On May 10, the United States House approved a bill that would send $40 billion in economic, humanitarian, and military aid to Ukraine in its efforts to stave off Russia’s invasion. This spending bill has been met with fierce criticism from the American public.

Americans are rightfully angry at how the US government has sent taxpayer dollars to one of the most corrupt nations in the West. This is taking place when the US’s infrastructure is crumbling, the economy is on the ropes, and the southern border is collapsing.

Talk about misplaced priorities!

What this latest splurge of aid to Ukraine shows is how corrupt the DC ruling class is.

For one, President Joe Biden has had very questionable ties to Ukraine.

Ever since he was Vice President under the Obama administration, Biden has used his political influence to embed himself in the politics of Ukraine and profit handsomely off of it.

People tend to have short-term memories and forget that Biden used his position of vice president to get a Ukrainian prosecutor Viktor Shokin fired. Shokin was investigating the corrupt energy company Burisma.

Curiously, Biden’s son Hunter Biden was on Burisma’s payroll, where he was handsomely compensated to the tune of $1 million annually.

Biden even had the gall to further throw Shokin under the bus by saying that he wasn’t working hard enough to put the clamps on corruption and that the US government’s pressure on Ukraine to fire the prosecutor was not connected to Hunter Biden’s position at Burisma.

High IQ political observers would beg to differ with Biden’s take here.

In addition, the Obama administration doled out $53 million in taxpayers dollars from 2014 to 2016 to help bolster Ukraine’s energy sector.

According to US Aid for International Development data, the Obama administration doled out $1.28 billion in aid to Ukraine from 2014 to 2016.

A classified US State Department email from 2016 revealed that a key diplomat was warning about how Hunter Biden’s lavish position at Burisma was undermining American attempts to combat corruption in Ukraine.

This report was released after the New York Times sued the State Department for allegedly refusing to release emails and memos dealing with Hunter and his former business partners. These documents and correspondence were sent to or obtained by officials at the US Embassy in Romania.

Hunter Biden’s compensation was slashed in half two months following his father’s exit from his position as vice president.

There was no officially disclosed explanation about the decrease in Hunter Biden’s compensation. However, it stands to reason that his father’s departure from higher office at the time likely led to this reduction in compensation.

During a 2018 speech he gave at the Council on Foreign Relations, Joe  Biden bragged about threatening to withhold $1 billion in American loan guarantees for Ukraine unless the Ukrainian authorities canned Shokin.

The Ukrainian prosecutor would eventually be fired and all legal actions towards Burisma magically dropped. Coincidence? I think not.

Hunter Biden ended up resigning from the board of Burisma in April 2019 when it became clear that his business connections with the energy company started to hurt his father’s presidential aspirations at the time.

Despite all the media praise for Ukraine, it is among the most corrupt nations in the West.

According to Transparency International’s 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index, Ukraine is ranked in 122nd place for the level of corruption taking place in the country. This is not some healthy, liberal democracy.

The latest aid dump to Ukraine will likely be used to buy off Ukrainian politicians and be funneled into corrupt NGOS.

All while Ukraine gets partitioned by Russia during its brutal military operation.

Ultimately, the US ruling class cares more about bleeding Russia as opposed to maintaining peace in this embattled region. When the dust settles from this conflict, US Deep Staters will have a strong foothold in a weakened Ukraine, as they loot the country and turn it into a money laundering venue.

The biggest losers here will be the Ukrainian people, who have suffered enormously during this conflict, and the US taxpayers who have seen billions of their hard-earned dollars be sent to a corrupt country that is being used as a geopolitical sacrificial lamb.

A lose-lose situation all around.

What do you think?
