In certain jurisdictions in America, the rule of law no longer exists. Just look at what happened on July 21, 2022 in upstate New York.
A man, David G. Jakubonis, attempted to stab New York Congressman Lee Zeldin, who is running as the Republican candidate for state governor, at a campaign event that night.
Thankfully, Zeldin blocked the attack and the suspect was tackled by AMVETS National Director Joe Chenell.
Zeldin continued with his speech. In a Twitter post after the event, Zeldin predicted that the assailant would be immediately released due to New York’s lax bail laws.
According to a statement that the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department released, Jakubonis was slapped with an “Attempted Assault in the Second Degree (E-Felony)” charge. In addition, Jakubonis was “released on his own recognizance.”
That’s the state of affairs in New York State. Thanks to lax bail standards, criminals are allowed to run loose and continue their nasty criminal streaks.
This latest incident shows the many dangers of a permissive society. Criminals must be punished for their actions. Full stop.
Not doing so, invites all forms of social chaos and will invariably initiate the Third Worldization of American socio-economic affairs. America truly needs leaders who understand the importance of the rule of law.
This is a concept that has made America the most prosperous and stable mass democracy in human history. If we don’t get the basics down, such as punishing criminals, our very civilization will be put on the fast track to civilizational decay.
