Outdoor Gear Manufacturer is Providing Benefits to Employees Who Abort Their Children

After the landmark Roe v. Wade decision was overturned by the Supreme Court on June 24, 2022, corporate America showed its true colors.

Outdoor gear manufacturer Patagonia has committed itself to backing the pro-abortion side of the aisle.

According to a report by Jarryd Jaeger of The Post Millennial,  “Patagonia says it will bail out employees who choose to ‘peacefully protest’ for ‘reproductive justice.’”

The company released this announcement in a statement that was dropped after the Supreme Court’s decision. In the statement, the company vowed to help those affected by the Court’s latest ruling.

“Caring for employees extends beyond basic health insurance, so we take a more holistic approach to coverage and support overall wellness to which every human has a right,” the statement outlined. “That means offering employees the dignity of access to reproductive health care. It means supporting employees’ choices around if or when they have a child. It means giving parents the resources they need to work and raise children.”

In the statement, the company detailed that Patagonia will assume the cost of abortions for all of its part-time and full-time employees, which includes, food, lodging, and travel “where restrictions exist.”

“Training and bail for those who peacefully protest for reproductive justice,” is also a benefit that employees can enjoy, in addition to time off to vote, and the provision of resources to guarantee that an informed decision is made.

Jaeger added the following:

Employees who do decide to have children are offered four weeks of paid pregnancy leave, and/or twelve weeks of paid ‘parental bonding’ leave, as well as assistance caring for kids. In recent days, a number of companies have come out and offered to pay for their employees’ abortion costs, but only Patagonia has gone so far as to foot the bill for those caught protesting.

Corporate America clearly doesn’t care about promoting public morality. In a normal political environment, these companies would stick to what they do best — making a profit — and stop trying to make everything political.

If we want more sanity in politics, corporations can do their party by staying out of the political process altogether.
