It’s no secret that actors in the United States have the most bland political perspectives that conform to politically correct standards.
Actress Jessica Chastain, who has starred in films such as Zero Dark Thirty and Interstellar, demonstrated on July 4 that she is just another ideologically possessed automaton in Hollywood.
In a tweet she posted that day, Chastain said “Happy ‘Independence’ Day from me and my reproductive rights.” In that photo, she held up two middle fingers in protest of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that overturned Roe v. Wade.
In doing so, the Dobbs decision has kicked the abortion issue back to the states where they are free to restrict or liberalize the matter as they see fit.
Chastain is one of several celebrities who has thrown a fit about the Supreme Court’s latest ruling.
Alana Mastrangelo of Breitbart News noted that Chastain has voiced radical pro-abortion views in the past:
“In 2019, the actress attacked pro-life legislation again, vowing now not to work in states where a pro-life bill becomes a law.”
She added another case where Chastain protested Supreme Court justice Brett Kavanaugh’s back in 2018:
In 2018, Chastain joined left-wing activist organizations Planned Parenthood and NARAL to push an anti-Brett Kavanaugh “walkout” in solidarity with his accuser, Christine Blasey Ford.
Chastain currently lives in New York, a state that is thoroughly pro-choice and will not be impacted by the Dobbs decision whatsoever. However, for ideologically possessed individuals like Chastain, this is a bridge too far.
It’s perhaps time for us to start ignoring actors, especially their vapid political statements. Giving these people’s arguments credence only encourages them to behave in a more unhinged manner.
Thankfully, America still has a nominally federalist system where many normal people don’t have to share political space with the likes of Chastain.
And we should work to keep it that way.
