Celebrities Call the Supreme Court the American Taliban

On July 24, 2022, the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade — a move that made the Left go completely bonkers. 

Actress Barbara Streisand and actor Mark Ruffalo did not pull any punches on Twitter on June 24 when they described Christians, Republicans, and the Supreme Court as the “American Taliban” after the Roe v. Wade ruling was made.

In essence, the Court ruled that the original Roe v. Wade decision was unconstitutional in how it gave the federal government dominion over the question of abortion policy.  After striking down this landmark ruling in the latest Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision, the Supreme Court kicked the handling of abortion policy back to the states. Streisand specifically said on Twitter, “The Court uses religious dogma to overturn the constitutional right to abortion. This Court is the American Taliban.”

Ruffalo, of Marvel’s Hulk fame, also used the “American Taliban” trope in the aftermath of this decision. 

Moreover, Ruffalo called on his supporters to “fight like hell.”

“Time to fight like hell in any way you know how. The American Taliban has taken over the Supreme Court,” Ruffalo tweeted.

The funny part here is that the Supreme Court was previously treated as a “sacred institution” and was held in high esteem by many mainstream liberals. 

But now that it’s making decisions that go contrary to the liberal agenda, the Supreme Court is being burnt in effigy. 

Funny how that works. 

Here’s the thing: Abortion is an activity the federal government has no business getting involved in. It’s really a state’s rights issue. 

But this is too much for the liberals to swallow. They are hell-bent on universally imposing their preferences on everyone. 

Even with Roe v. Wade overturned, we still have work to do. Federalism still needs to be protected from control freak political movements that want to impose their universalist visions on the rest of the nation.
